History · Mission · Vision · Values
The present area of Model Colony in Purana Bazar, Dimapur, is a residential locality that local oral history and regional accounts associate with an older British-era dairy farming site. During the colonial period, parts of the tract around present-day Purana Bazar and the surrounding area served as agricultural and dairy outposts, supplying rations and milk to British troops and administrative personnel stationed along the strategic Assam–Naga gateway.
For decades, the land was known locally as the “Old Dairy Farm” area. As urban expansion reshaped East Dimapur, the land underwent partitioning and settlement, and was renamed Model Colony in 2003.
Shri. P. Tokugha Achumi was the first Chairman of the Model Colony Council as well as the Sümi Community of Model Colony, Purana Bazar, East Dimapur, Nagaland.
Model Colony is situated in the Purana Bazar area of Dimapur, Nagaland, bounded on all four sides as follows:
Darogajan Village / Sugar Mill Nallah
National Highway 39 Trio-junction
Government Fishery Approach Road
